Found this restaurant a few weeks ago while walking and got curious about the food. Today I ordered here for the second time and can recommend the Chulo without exception. The food tastes fantastic, the portions are generous and the value for money fits. I'm already looking forward to going out to eat there or spending a cozy evening there when the restaurant is allowed to reopen
Price performance is a bit poor, 15 euros for a medium-sized plate of chicken and vegetables, but a bit steep for the simple dish! Language barriers made communication difficult. However, food was delicious.
The menu is small but the food was tasty. Unfortunately, quite a few drinks were out. Unfortunately there are no desserts either.
It has never happened to me there that food was not warm on the table. The choice of drinks leaves nothing to be desired. The seats were cleaned properly and the chairs were deeply comfortable. This restaurant has de facto potential to become my new hangout. You get both: friendly and fast service.
Very tasty food, really friendly and helpful staff. We will be going back! This is a gluten free and vegan friendly restaurant
The food was very tasty - however I thought the portion sizes were a little small for the price
Super tasty food. Only the staff was better because of their friendliness. An insider tip
The food is super fresh, absolutely delicious and authentic. The owners are very friendly and there is a lot of information about Nepalese cuisine for free ? The location is a bit hidden, but it is definitely worth looking for!
If you fancy a different kitchen, you should go here. Very good food, very friendly staff. You should bring time, however. Ordering, eating and going out is not, here you can get away from everyday life.
Very delicious food, reasonably priced and we got full too ... For the fifth star, however, some work has to be done on the ambience and service. There is definitely potential. We wish you continued success and will definitely come back to test the rest of the dishes.
One of the biggest surprises in Leipzig
Me so my case. The service speaks only English, not very attentive. And the food, who likes it, will taste it
Best Nepalese food in town
If you are looking for something different, Chulo is the place for you. No ordinary eating but an experience for all the senses. Dishes prepared with a lot of love ..... a warm host who reflects his homeland in culinary terms. There will definitely be a second time .....
A very cozy Place, with a lovely Nature around, just like being in the Himalayas... The Host himself Guestfriendly and Polite... Authentic tasty Food... Just like Homemade.. surely recommendable...
Very courteous service, really good recommendations for food - and the latter is really great. We will be back.
Very tasty and very friendly. We felt very comfortable and will definitely come again.
Ultra-friendly and courteous staff and very hospitable atmosphere. The food was excellent and we were even asked to ask questions about it in order to learn more about the cultural background. We will definitely go back.
The food was terrific. The taste is really extraordinary. The selection is not huge, but everyone should find something, whether meat eaters, vegetarians or vegans, everyone will be happy. The service was restrained Asian but also explained what each dish was and what was inside. Overall a great taste experience and we will be back!
The restaurant is really beautifully decorated. Not a cheap decoration, but everything was very nicely coordinated. Here you get both: friendly and brisk waiters. We didn't have to wait long for the food and our drinks. It was great because we had a lot of cravings that evening, I can highly recommend this place!
Nice people, great food and a great place
Very friendly staff and high quality, tasty food.
Super peaceful atmosphere, delicious food and friendly, caring workers!
Excellent food. Great flavors. Nice people working there.
Very appetising food
Excellent food, very friendly atmosphere. Absolutely loved the visit.
Excellent restaurant with genuine Nepalese cuisine. In terms of taste, it is in no way inferior to the original. Very friendly hosts. Just like in the home country. We recommend. Will come again and again ?
Food was delicious but priced a bit upscale. We were for two at 40 euros. Something different - can be tested quiet times, especially all those who focus on spicy food.
What a wonderful experience
Really good.A lot of vegan options. Is not cheap but also not expensive.20€ each with drink. If u want to spend less go to Nepal.
Nice and friendly place with authentic food.
Amazing food, and the owner seems like a really cool guy as well! We spoke with him for a few minutes after our meal
It is always a warm welcome when you enter Chulo - the friendly owners want to share the nepalese culture with you and serve you the most authentic and freshly (!) made food. Bring some time, leave the stress outside and take the nepalese feeling in.
I had not eaten Nepali yet. It was quite interesting and resembles the Indian. That should be tried. There is a star deduction, because the service of my company allegedly did not recommend spicy food that was still spicy. So just go, if you like something spicy.
With high expectations i visited this restaurant in hopes of having delicious momos. Unfortunately they were too bland and random. Vegetarian options had the same fillings. The prices are way too high for the quality served. Three stars only for decent seating, ambience and family/group friendly place.
Very delicious food, whether vegetarian or with chicken or lamb. You get full and learn a lot about Nepal. We haven't eaten so well in a long time. Every dish is explained. There are plenty of parking spaces in front of and near the restaurant, including disabled parking spaces. The Chulo can be recommended 100%.
Main vegetarian option not great. Not much flavour apart from salt and oil. Context: My tastes are typical of a London vegetarian and I love a good South Indian thali.
I found the chulo by chance and got curious. First of all, it was really tasty and I definitely haven't regretted eating there. You get an explanation of the importance of the dish in Nepal and how and when it is eaten. And what it's made of, of course ... The waitress has the right to take time for each guest. Therefore, with regard to some critical voices here, I can imagine that things do not run smoothly when the restaurant is full. Conclusion: when I'm back in town I'll definitely go back.
Excellent food and the staff were great.
One of the best restaurants in Leipzig. Very cute owners, family-run and very authentic restaurant, rather small menu but amazingly delicious food. I've been here for the second and definitely not the last time.
Super delicious food at Chulo. We had a Vegetarian Dhaal Bara Tarkaari with eggplant, cauliflower, spinach, lentils, potatoes, rice and a tasty dessert, and also lamb. Spicy food with a distinctive flavor. The best was the eggplant and the lamb. The least were the lentils. Excellent service! We had the pleasure to be served by Pradip, awesome guy. He told us lots of stories and even gave us a book about Nepalese culture. Waiting time: around 10min.
Lovely home cooked Nepalese food with a story behind many of them, if the owner has time to tell you about them. Slightly hidden away, but well worth seeking out.
We had a great time there with great and authentic food. Not too much sugar, not too much salt, not too (hot) spicy, it felt quite healthy, too. I was there with a friend from South India (not quite Nepal I know), and he said the food was just like back home. If you want the Nepalese experience without leaving Leipzig, that's the place to go!
Must visit nice food and a special focus on the Nepal culinary culture, very nice for groups and events.....
This is my new favourite restaurant in Leipzig. The food is delicious (I especially enjoyed the vegetarian menu) and I love that you get to hear a few little anecdotes for every dish you pick. Their curries are easily the nicest we've had since moving to Germany. Vegetarian and vegan options are available. You can't see it from the outside, but they have a lovely conservatory at the back of the restaurant. Would definitely recommend this place!
Oh my goodness! Happened to notice this place the other day so popped in. The chap was so very helpful helping us to make our decisions of what to eat. When it came, the food was full of flavour and the vegetables cooked to perfection. The beer was wonderful, not the usual fizzy pop served in Germany. There is also a small play area for kids. Great experience, will certainly be returning soon.
The first Nepalese dinner I ever had - and now I want more. A family-run restaurant with great authentic food and super friendly staff. The interior is a decorated a bit oddly but we had a great evening and will be coming back.
Perfect blend of tasty food and ambience. Authentic touch of Nepal.
Soulful and away from the noises of daily life. Host and the food combined with ambience gives the most satisfying dining experience.
Really lovely people and good, authentic Nepalese food. The service can be a bit slow, especially on busy nights because everything is made fresh to order. The lovely staff, calm ambience and delicious cocktails make the wait perfectly tolerable, though.
